Satyanarayana Pooja is also performed on important occasions like marriages, house warming ceremonies, and birthdays to offer gratitude and seek further blessings from Lord Narayana. This auspicious pooja starts with a prayer to Lord Ganesha to remove barriers in life followed by a prayer to the Navagrahas. Devotees then offer prayer to Lord Narayana after which a recitation of the Satyanarayana Katha is carried out. This Katha is about the origin of ritual, the benefits of observing the pooja, and the fast associated with it. The pooja is concluded by Aratika and then the most significant offering, prasad made from sugar, wheat, bananas, cow's milk, and ghee is served.


The Satyanarayana pooja holds great significance in Hinduism and is observed to ensure health, wealth, stability, and abundance in one's life. Devotees usually observe a fast associated with pooja with a belief of cleansing their aura. The pooja celebrates the victory of truth over evil and falsehood. It is believed that this ritual cleanses one from the inside. Besides, it is believed to improve the mental and physical health of the observant and provide stability in married and family life overall. It not only bestows material pleasures in one's life but also makes one spiritually stronger so that the person can rightly choose his path and karma. The devout believe that persons who perform Satyanarayana Pooja conquer all troubles in their lives and their heartfelt desires come true.
